About wrist injuries.

Often wrist injuries are chronic in athletes. They often take the form of tenontothecitis, which is painful. The most common cause of this is too much play in the wrist joint. For example, this can occur at one of the carpal bones and cause straining of one or more tendons. 

Manual therapy is a frequently prescribed treatment for this condition, as well as muscle training and local massage. Sometimes an injection can alleviate chronic irritation. The best way to support your wrist during sports and other activities is by "immobilising it". A wrist brace is perfect for this purpose.

When to use a PSB wrist brace

If you have a painful wrist or increased "play" in the wrist or a trapped nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome).

Unsuitable for:

No conditions are known which preclude wearing an arm brace. Pain should always be seen as a warning. In case of continuing pain or other symptoms for which there is no clear cause, you should always consult your GP, physiotherapist or sport therapist.

Special properties:

The Wrist brace provides the right amount of support for stretching and bending the wrist joint. The elastic tape provides the optimal level of pressure.

Easy to size.

The PSB Wrist Brace is available in three sizes (see table on reverse) in left and right versions.

To determine the correct size you need to measure around the wrist, between your hand and the wrist bones (see illustration). Fit the brace and ensure it feels comfortable.

Easy fit.

1 Take the end of the elastic tape through the fastening ring. 
2 Push your thumb through the appropriate opening (the fastening ring is now on the back of your hand). (See Fig. 1) 
3 Tighten the tape and wrap it around your wrist. Find the pressure that suits you best. (See Fig. 2)

Easy wash.

Like the other PSB sports braces, the wrist brace is easy to care for and can be washed at up to 40 degrees C in the washing machine. Higher temperatures should be avoided, as they will damage the elastic materials. Use the supplied washing net and fasten all Velcro fasteners before washing. 

Allow your PSB sport brace to dry naturally, i.e. not in the tumble dryer or on a radiator. You will extend the life of your brace if you allow it to dry after use. Never keep it stored in your sports bag.

Correct use.

Check that you have chosen the right size wrist brace. If you feel pressure on your wrist bones, you could need a smaller size.

Before use, check whether your sport brace shows any signs of damage or wear, which will reduce pressure and efficiency.

Please be aware that an ill-fitting brace does not function properly.
